Dead Letters

Dead Letters: Welcome

Dead Letters is a short film I made for the Virgin Media Shorts competition limiting the running time to no more than two minutes twenty seconds.

I wrote and directed this film and shot it in two days over one weekend.
I was inspired after reading somewhere that the post office often gets a series of dead letters; letters that were unable to be delivered but have no return address and so go nowhere, which I thought was rather sad.

My aim was to write a story that was family friendly and simple enough to convey within the time limit. I also wanted to use actors that are not necessarily offered as many opportunities and so wrote a story for the older generation.

The film went on to screen at various film festivals around the UK and was nominated for Best Film at the Palme-Dewar Awards.
